Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Hallett Cove East Primary School.

We are located in Hallett Cove, a coastal suburb which is approximately 25 kilometres south of Adelaide. The school opened in 1991.

Hallett Cove East Primary School is unique in that it comprises 9 suburban style houses, with up to two classes or specialist programs operating in each. A wet area, inside toilets and withdrawal spaces are also available for classes to access in each house. Our grounds are spacious and inviting with many fantastic open-spaces for play, shady gum trees and gardens beds, contributing to an aesthetically beautiful, calm and engaging environment.

Our school values of Excellence, Responsibility, Respect and Fairness are evident in our classrooms and guide our daily interactions with each other. Our school recently commenced The Resilience Project, to build wellbeing and resilience in our students through Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness.

Hallett Cove East has a well-equipped Computer Room for student access, interactive screens in all classrooms, and class access to chrome books across the school to enhance student learning. The Resource Centre has a trolley of iPads for student access as well as a number of robotics resources for classes to access. The resource centre is also available for students to browse and borrow from a large selection of books and resources.

Physical resources are of a high quality and include a well-equipped Pavilion for sporting and whole school activities and a number of quality playgrounds for student access. Student participation in a range of sports is actively promoted and many students participate in some form of organised out of school hours sporting competitions.

Specialist offerings include Japanese, PE, Science and The Performing Arts. Our school is about to embrace the Festival of Music challenge which is another exciting opportunity for our students.

A number of other special programs including SAPSASA events, Harmony Day, Bookweek, festivities, Japanese festival celebrations and Swimming and Aquatics are also offered to students during the year. We host a very popular end of year school concert which is well supported by our community and student performances are of a high quality.

Current school priorities include Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing. A comprehensive review of our improvement priorities occurs each year. (Please refer to the Site Plan in the website for more information about our priorities).

Student leadership is a priority of the school. We are very proud of our year 6 student leadership program where students work closely with teachers on an area of interest for the school as well our schoolwide buddy program where older and younger classes work together. Lighthouse Leaders represent the students and work directly with the Principal on how our school can improve student learning and wellbeing.

Parents and families are an important part of our school. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved and we actively encourage and appreciate volunteer support. The school has a strong out hours sport program particularly in Soccer which is well supported by our parent community.

The school has a healthy canteen that follows the Right Bite guidelines and a well-utilised and popular Out of School Hours Care program. Our school has a wellbeing leader who works three days a week to support students and we are also fortunate to have the services of a Pastoral Care Worker to provide support to our students in a range of ways.

We look forward to welcoming you to our fantastic school community. If you would like further information about the school beyond what is provided in this website please do not hesitate to contact us.
