Parent Involvement

Hallett Cove East Primary School enjoys strong support from the school community. We greatly value the participation of parents and other family members in supporting our various school programs and encourage parents to participate in our Governing Council, Sports, Canteen and general Volunteering programs.

According to the expectation of DECD policies all volunteers are required to participate in a DECD approved Criminal History Check process before commencing volunteering in the school. This is a very simple process that is done through the school. Please click on the link below or contact the the front office for more information.

The school also provides a 1.5 hour training course for Volunteers each term as part of the DECD requirements and Volunteers are expected to attend one of these training sessions once. The training includes general information about Volunteering, Confidentiality, Duty of Care, Work Health and Safety issues, and a module about Reporting Abuse and Neglect. Dates of training sessions are provided through newsletters and other communication methods.

The school maintains an up to date database of Volunteers who work in the school. The school also has a Parent and Community Partnerships Professional Learning Community. This group looks at a range of opportunities for parents to be involved with school.
